Volunteer

Volunteers are essential partners in our work. You help us walk alongside individuals, families, and communities—creating safe spaces where wellbeing, dignity, and hope can grow. Whether you have a few hours a week or can commit longer-term, your time and skills make a real difference on the ground.

Areas Where Volunteers Can Contribute

Our current programmes offer these opportunities (some are still expanding):

  • Mental & Emotional Wellbeing — Support confidential counselling sessions, facilitate or assist with peer support circles, or help organise community talks on trauma, stress, and emotional strength.
  • Child Protection — Work with schools, families, and local leaders to help identify children at risk, support prevention of abuse and neglect, and assist with care and follow-up.
  • Family Strengthening — Assist with practical parenting workshops, marriage/caregiver support sessions, or household coaching that helps families stay together and thrive.
  • Youth Empowerment (coming soon) — Mentor young people, support life-skills training, or help with livelihoods pathways.
  • Community Resilience — Join community-led initiatives that build local capacity, dignity, and long-term resilience.

Other ways to help include administrative support, event organisation, awareness-raising, content creation, fundraising assistance, or skills-based volunteering (e.g., counselling, social work, education, communications).

Who We’re Looking For

  • People passionate about mental health, child protection, family support, and community development in Uganda.
  • Local volunteers (preferred for ongoing work) as well as international supporters who can offer short- or longer-term help.
  • Skills in counselling, facilitation, teaching, mentoring, community mobilisation, administration, communications, or fundraising are especially welcome—but enthusiasm and reliability matter most.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, cultural sensitivity, and working respectfully with vulnerable people.

How to Get Involved

  1. Email us at info@sheilatwallafoundation.org with a short introduction about yourself, your availability, relevant experience/skills, and which programme areas interest you.
  2. Or call +256 782 032 430
  3. We’ll respond to discuss current needs, next steps, and any orientation or safeguarding requirements.

Even small contributions of time help fund and deliver counselling, protection, and family support services that create lasting safe spaces.

Join us in building a Uganda where every person feels safe, valued, and supported—where families thrive and communities carry one another.
